Before Implementing TimeWorksTouch

Last Updated: Nov 21, 2017 03:11PM MST
TimeWorksTouch possesses some important distinctions from our other hardware clocks. As a SwipeClock partner, it's important you understand these differences before providing your client with a clock.

Setup Differences

“Adding the Clock” is Done On the Clock
No longer do you need to enter the serial number in TimeWorksPlus. The entire process is done on the clock itself and the serial number is not necessary to register the clock.

The TimeWorksTouch Manual covers everything your client will need to know about setup and use of the clock, but as their SwipeClock timekeeping provider, please note the following:

TimeWorksTouch is not compatible with TimeWorks Clients or Clients in the Migration Process. If you are interested in upgrading your client to TimeWorksPlus, please contact your Channel Development Manager. Once a client has completed the migration process, they will be able to use TimeWorksTouch.

For Intelligent Clock Features, WebClock 3.0 Should Be Enabled
TimeWorksTouch is designed to work with our Intelligent Clock features. To take advantage of tools like Clock Lockout and Punch Logic, make sure your client has WebClock 3.0 enabled.

Intelligent Clock Features are Not Compatible With Existing Hardware Clocks
For clients that already have hardware clocks, it’s important to note that Intelligent Clock features (Clock Lockout, Punch Logic, etc.) will not work with those clocks. This means that if you need to use those features, TimeWorksTouch needs to be the only model hardware clock on a site.

Your Client Can Add the Clock to Their Site Themselves
As long as the user has a Client level login to TimeWorksPlus, they can perform the initial registration. However, at this time, they will not be able to de-register the clock.

It’s an Android Device
TimeWorksTouch is an app specifically designed for this device. It combines the user interface of our WebClock with the employee authentication features of our hardware clocks. Once the clock is setup, the app will run in Kiosk Mode, which means an employee can’t close the app.

It Requires a Back-Door Password in Certain Scenarios
TimeWorksTouch requires an internet connection to validate a manager’s login and password and provide access to certain settings. If the internet connection is lost and these settings need to be accessed, there is a backdoor login and password that can be found in Changing Device Settings in Offline Mode.

Usage Differences

  • No More Unmatched Punches Which means employees must be added to Employee Setup before they can use the clock. If they are using a PIN or Prox card, that number must be entered in 1 of the first 3 Login fields in Employee Setup.
  • No More “1” and “2” to Initiate a Punch The employee starts by identifying themselves (PIN, print or card), then chooses IN or OUT on the clock.
  • Web Only Prompts will appear on this clock.
  • Alternate Clock Prompts not supported. Our other hardware clocks supported alternate prompts on the “4” and “5” key. TimeWorksTouch does not support this.

Biometrics

No More PINs for Prints
Prints are enrolled to employees by name, not PIN.

No More Trusted PINs
Employees that need to use a PIN instead of a print no longer need a Trusted PIN. They only need a PIN entered in Employee Setup.

Prints Will Need to Be Re-enrolled for Clients Replacing a Biometric Clock
TimeWorksTouch uses a different, and more accurate, system for recording print landmarks. If your client is replacing a Z33/34 or other biometric clock with TimeWorksTouch, they will need to re-enroll the prints.

Managers Use their Login for the Clock
There is no more default clock password to access the enrollment menu. A manager now uses their TimeWorksPlus login and password to enroll prints.
