Problems with Swipe Cards not Being Read at the Clock

In most cases the swipe card readers magnetic heads may be dirty in the clock and may not be working properly which would cause it not to read swipes from employee cards. However, cards themselves can also go bad, so make sure you try a test with a working card before assuming the reader is bad.

Also using a moist wipe wrapped around a normal magnetic card and ran through the reader could be used. PLEASE IF YOU ARE TRYING THIS ENSURE THAT THE MOIST WIPE IS NOT WET ENOUGH TO DRIP LIQUID INTO THE READER.

Sometimes the actual magnetic heads may be damaged in which case even cleaning the reader will not resolve the issue. In this instance an RMA request would need to be sent to Support through Support Center for a replacement.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU CANNOT RMA A CLOCK OUT OF WARRANTY (I.E. VERIFONE 510, 570, 610 OR TRANZ 330 AND 380 CLOCKS). IF YOUR CLOCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IS EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH A UPDATED CLOCK THAT SUPPORTS MAGNETIC CARDS LIKE THE Z14.
